Getting Started with Baby Shower Party Ideas

Hosting a baby shower for a friend or family member is a wonderful gift and also a big responsibility. How do you get started? What are some baby shower party ideas that can help? As you begin your planning, there are a few things you should keep in mind.

Personality of Mom-To-Be
The personality of mom-to-be should be something that you consider before you pick out the theme or send invitations. If the mother has a more subdued personality and is uncomfortable being the center of attention, picking a theme that highlights the baby more than her will likely make her more comfortable. Keep this in mind as you choose games as well. Ones like “guess how big mom’s belly is” will likely make her feel embarrassed and uncomfortable. Pick ones instead that have the guests interacting with each other. If the mom-to-be is more outgoing, be sure to have opportunities during the shower for her to interact with the guests and that highlight her.

Guest List
If the guest list is multi-generational or a lot of people that do not know each other, a more generic theme like butterflies or rubber ducky is more appropriate. Stay away from themes that might make people uncomfortable. This is also true when planning games. Some people might be disgusted by the Dirty Diaper Candy Bar game. Pick games instead that are more generic like baby gift bingo or word scrambles. If your guest list is a group of good friends, pick a theme that you know everyone will like and games that fit the group.

There are many different baby shower party ideas to help you but proper planning will help make sure that the shower you throw is fun for everyone.
